We always look forward to receiving your application. However, please note the following information to make communication easier for us.

  • Electronic applications (address: info@deutsch-ghanaischer-freundschaftskreis.de) are most welcome. However, if you are unable to do so, you can also apply in writing (Obermarkt 8, 82418 Murnau a.Staffelsee). Put all the documents you wish to enclose with your application in one document – preferably as a PDF file. Please attach the form with the most important information to your application.
  • We expect you to have familiarized yourself with our organization and the respective internship position. You can also apply for several internships. However, please understand that we do not respond to unsolicited or mass applications.
  • We want to get to know you personally. Interviews usually take place in Murnau; travel and accommodation costs are not reimbursed.
  • Due to early returns, we are forced to request a deposit of 200 euros from each intern. This will be refunded upon return and fulfillment of the contract.
  • In your letter of motivation, explain why you have chosen Africa and the internship in question. This will make it easier for us to get to know you and to make an initial assessment of whether we are a good fit for you and you for us. Your CV should highlight the most important stages of your life to date.
  • Unfortunately, we now receive many applications whose senders do not show up for an interview or later cancel for incomprehensible reasons. This is not only very rude to us and our partners, but also causes unnecessary expenses. We are therefore forced to introduce a deposit of €20. We will offset this against the costs incurred.
If you do not show up for an interview without a rejection or if you do not start the internship despite an agreement for reasons that are not understandable, we will retain the deposit to cover our expenses.
Please transfer the deposit to one of our accounts, stating your name.
  • The internship should last at least three months.
  • Your health is important to us, as our partners and we also take responsibility for you. If you suffer from an illness that requires treatment, this is not a general reason for exclusion. However, we expect you to tell us this openly and honestly during the verbal interview at the latest – this is the only way we can take precautions for possible treatment on site in your own interest.
In any case, you must present a medical certificate stating that you are suitable for a stay in the tropics (please wait until you have received positive news from us).
  • We work on a voluntary basis. Nevertheless, you will also incur costs for an internship, some of which we have to pass on. You will incur approximately the following costs:
    • Living expenses: You will need at least €100 for this. However, as these costs only cover the cost of living for food, you should expect to pay a total of €150 per month.
    • Flight costs: Flight costs fluctuate regularly. We expect costs of between €700 and €900. In addition, there are your costs to the departure airport.
    • Insurance: You will need international health insurance and accident insurance. We have a framework contract for accident insurance, which we will include you in. This costs €8 per month. The costs for international health insurance must be clarified with your current insurance company.
    • Visa fees: The Ghanaian embassy charges a fee of €100. Our partner will cover the costs of your residence permit in Ghana.
    • Overhead costs: These are costs incurred by our partners in Ghana, e.g. for the clarification of residence matters and before orientation measures. These costs amount to approx. 15 € per month, which are to be paid to us in advance.
  • Please note that there should be at least two months between your application and your departure. This is necessary and required for preparation.

If you have any questions about the procedure or individual positions, please send us an e-mail – either directly to  info@deutsch-ghanaischer-freundschaftskreis.de
