A well for cocoa farmers
To all projects25. October 2025

Together with the chocolate manufacturer Krönner and the company Herrmann Ratzinger, we were able to realise a well project in the Suhum region of Ghana. In a small village where cocoa farming is the main industry, there was no water. The people had to undertake long and arduous distances to get water.
We are very grateful that we were able to realise this project with the Krönner family and Hermann Ratzinger wholesalers. Much of the chocolate processed in Murnau comes from Suhum.
The kids from class 4c at Emanuel-von-Seidl Primary School in Murnau also took part in the project: as part of a chocolate project ‘Ghana’, the children designed wrappers for fair trade chocolate from the Krönner chocolate manufacturer. The primary school children sold all 150 bars of chocolate, decorated with cocoa pictures, flags or symbols of fairness, at their summer festival. All proceeds from the campaign were on behalf of the construction of the well in Suhum!
During our last visit in March 2025, the residents of the village told us that this was their greatest concern. Now the well is finished and we are all very happy. It is an invaluable resource and a major contribution to improving the quality of life!
