Sponsorships

Education also costs money in Ghana. And although the Ghanaian government covers the majority of education costs, the trainees and pupils at the Ghanaian German School Denchemouso still incur costs.

School fees & tuition

School uniforms are compulsory in Ghana. Your support covers these costs and helps the child to feel part of the school community.

Food & drink

The children live at the Denchemouso Vocational Training Center and therefore incur additional costs for their meals. With your sponsorship, the child receives a nutritious meal and clean drinking water every day – giving them enough energy to learn, play and grow.

School material

You can’t have a school without books and exercise books. The sponsorship covers school materials such as books, exercise books and writing utensils – everything needed for active learning.

School fees

School fees are common in Ghana and even their low level helps to ensure that families take their children’s education seriously. The workforce of the students is in demand, especially in their own families, and so school attendance must be worthwhile for the families. Paying school fees without anything in return therefore represents a loss – and so parents prefer to send their children to school. School fees are therefore a good investment. With your sponsorship, you pay the full school fees – and enable a child to attend school regularly.

Month for month, this amounts to €55. If you take on a sponsorship, you undertake to bear these costs for “your sponsored child”. We rely on you “knowing” your sponsored child – which is why you will also receive reports on what happens to them during the three-year training cycle.

The trainees and pupils are selected for sponsorship in a selection process. This is based on social criteria and the young person’s performance. The performance of the sponsored children is reviewed on an ongoing basis as part of the examinations at the end of the semester and may result in a trainee losing their sponsorship.

If you are interested in a sponsorship, you can contact us directly or simply send us the sponsorship declaration.
