DGFK Basic School Toilet Project 07

Denchemouso Basic School in Atwima has been able to build a new toilet thanks to a joint partnership project! Until now, the primary school children had to cope with dilapidated sanitary facilities and a latrine as part of their daily school life, as the state school lacks funds and materials. The children at their German partner school, the James Loeb Primary School in Murnau, took this as an opportunity to organise a charity run at their school.

During the charity run in May 2025, 170 James Loeb pupils ran a total of an impressive 887.60 kilometres! The total donations collected, amounting to €9,923, went entirely to their partner school in Atwima. Any shortfall in funding was covered by the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly and the German-Ghanaian Friendship Association.

The partnership between James Loeb Primary School and Denchemouso Basic School in Atwima has existed for several years and is sustained by regular pen-pals and joint projects. The pupils in Murnau are keen to support their pen-pals in Atwima and to get actively involved themselves. This is how the idea for the charity run came about.

The construction work on the toilet block is now complete and the finished building has been officially inaugurated. For the primary school children in Atwima Denchemouso and Murnau, this is a milestone that shows what can be achieved through solidarity and a sense of community!
